Should your design require color to extend past the trimmed edge, you’ll need to set up your document to 'bleed'. Make sure you use the correct bleed amount when you setup your document to the correct trim size. Most presses require a 1/8” bleed, and the best place to set this up is the Document Setup dialog box in InDesign. CorelDraw X3 and X4, and Illustrator CS4, includes the ability to set your document up with a bleed. Be sure to show your guides and pull the color beyond the document trim.
